Gums represent the first access route of bacteria and microorganisms towards the inside of the periodontal apparatus which is composed by the complex of tissues that maintain the tooth anchored to the maxillary bones and includes gums, alveolar bone, periodontal ligament and root cement.
The worst enemies of the gums are plaque and tartar, as well as spoiled habits such as smoking, sugary substances and stress. These, however, can be faced with a good oral hygiene at home and a constant check by the dentist who, in doing so, can intercept any developments in inflammation in time and intervene promptly and permanently.
